Quarantine 2020 Boredom | "Barkoir"
Updated: Oct 8, 2020
I was supposed to be launching Sophia Barra boudoir in the beginning of 2020...instead we got COVID-19 and a lockdown. All parks, beaches, and public spaces were closed. People were not just encouraged, but damn near required to stay 6 feet apart from one another.
It was misery for small businesses everywhere. Photographers had a small boost in the very beginning - before we knew just how restricted it would all become. The "Front Porch Project" was born, and had a small moment. Then mandatory shut-ins happened and everything stopped. Weddings, baby showers, gender reveals...all done. Photography, (other than self portraits) came to a stand-still.
And that's how Barkoir was born.
My dog, Bernadette, laid at my feet while I worked from home every day. I was itching for something to shoot since all my sessions had been cancelled, and I had a whole mess of brand new boudoir things laying around that I would have been using in my opening. Bernie likes to lay prone on her back...and inspiration struck.
So I gathered my things, dogs Bernie and Lybe, and son KJ and we headed to the light-filled spare bedroom. Lots of treats, sweet talking, begging, and belly rubs later, Barkoir was a success. I'm going to be honest, I just might have to make this a thing. Literally, if your dog can sit on command and has a derpy face or two, we can get the job done.

Lybe's getting a little more seductive here XD
Bernie's softer side...you can't go wrong with lace and flowers
A touch of whimsy with a flower crown <3
